Description
While the Raspberry Shake measures and monitors the subtle seismic vibrations of our moving planet, the RBOOM was designed to record the imperceptible “noises” in the form of infrasonic signals that bounce around our atmosphere.
These sound waves are always present, even if we can’t hear them, and are emitted from some fascinating sources, both man-made and natural. From traffic, wind farms, and the supersonic booms of jets flying by, to avalanches in the mountains of Austria, volcanic eruptions in Hawaii and even certain animal calls such as the elephants that roam the African Savannah.
The RBOOM is ideal for those wanting to study the many sources that emit infrasound. Or for those with an interest to discover more about the unheard symphony of sound happening all around us.

Jochen Richert –
Because I already own an RS3D and have an infrasound sensor from another manufacturer, but it can only be operated via a serial interface, I decided to buy the RBOOM. In combination with jAmaseis I got a very nice curve display which is easy to interpret even for laymen. Since I built or assembled a lot of my devices myself and could save money, I bought the components and simply assembled the device.
I use the RBOOM as an extension to my radio and video detection of meteors. Our association Fachgruppe Meteorastronomie (http://meteorastronomie.ch) collects basically all possible data about meteors, bolides, evaluates them scientifically and shares these data with other scientific institutions in Europe. We have a specialist in our team who calculates the transit time of the sound of a bolide and, based on the orbit data, predicts the possibility of receiving infrasound and the corresponding time window for different stations. Here an example.

For me, the price/performance ratio fits, the early contact with Branden in the development phase and later with the support was always very professional and fast. I can only recommend this device.
